Go West!

On the western outskirts of Kyoto is a district called Arashiyama. Hundreds of years ago this area was already popular with nobles. Today it is a busy tourist area. There are shops, restaurants, a river, a bridge, a monkey park, a train ride, a boat ride, and of course, temples. You could spend a whole day here.

The plan was to go around on a rented bike.  Unfortunately, I arrived at 4:30 and bikes had to be returned by 5.  There were rickshaws waiting for passengers but that’s not exactly my style.

So I went on foot, searching for the elusive bamboo forrest.

  1. Nice series! The trees are amazing! We don’t know such trees in Germany. And I also like the pic with the long exposure.
