After a 45-minute trike ride, we reach Barangay Nakanmuan–a fishing village on the other side of the island. We are just in time to see some fishermen come back with the catch of the day.
The dorado (or mahi-mahi) are unloaded from the boat and gutted in front of us. The fisherman doesn’t seem like he had a good day. Our trike driver leads us to the home of another fisherman who has caught more dorado. He did slightly better.
I am reminded of the big Taiwanese fishing boats that sail into these waters and compete with these men. I wonder how they did that day.
